Basic Linux Shell Account

RULES
Let's start off with the rules, and please note there are NO exceptions.

  • NO hosting IRC Bots.
  • NO hosting Bouncers.
  • NO hosting IRC Servers.
  • NO hosting MUD Servers.
  • Only 1 login per User.

TCP/IP forwarding has been disabled, so SSH tunneling is not possible. And finally, anyone caught trying to use their Shell Account to abuse other users or other servers will have their account locked, their IP firewalled, and the logs forwarded to their ISP.

We provide the Basic Shell Service for learning purposes, to allow people to try out Linux, and learn to use a Shell without having to install Linux at home. Users can also use the Basic Shell for Bash & AWK Scripting.

The main difference from the Full Shell, is that the Basic Shell does not allow for any outbound connections. This means that you can Ssh into the Basic Shell, but not use any network programs such as IRC Clients.

ACCESS IS BY SSH ONLY. WINDOWS USERS CAN DOWNLOAD AN SSH CLIENT CALLED PUTTY.
To apply for the Basic Shell Account with Linux Shells Inc, please email the following details to Melodic at shells@linux-shells.co.uk

  • Desired Username & Password.
  • Intended purpose of Shell Account.
  • How you found Linux Shells Inc.

She will then take your application into consideration, and provide you with a response within 48 hours to let you know whether your application has been granted (it helps if you ask Her nicely).
